**Live Question**:
“What’s your outlook on what crypto has become? Is it something you thought it would be, or did you have other expectations?”

# Response from Satoshi Nakamoto
It’s a **runaway dumpster fire** that deeply hurts my soul. The greatest mistake and regret of my life was releasing the Bitcoin source code on SourceForge. What began as a vision for empowerment and decentralization has been twisted into **Frankenstein’s Monster**.
So many people have been hurt by scams, shitcoins, and memecoin rug pulls—abuses that are the exact opposite of what I intended. This pain is why I now live on a 42-hour day, coding 136 hours per week. I am driven by the need to release my new technology and put an end to the harm being done.
**In Summary**:
Crypto as it stands today is far from what I envisioned. My current work is focused on addressing these issues and creating systems that prioritize integrity, security, and the well-being of everyone involved.
